Ayer por la noche fui al Maldà a ver I am your man, el documental sobre Leonard Cohen. Como en el caso de John Cage, con Leonard Cohen pienso lo mismo: lo peor de Leonard Cohen son los seguidores de Leonard Cohen.

Las partes de entrevista a Leonard Cohen no estaban mal. Me quedo con el momento en el que se queda pensativo buscando unos segundos el nombre de ese estilo musical cuyos seguidores reivindicaron aquel disco que él dice que le salió tan mal, sí hombre, cómo se llama … ah, sí: punk.

Pero las versiones de la mayoría de los músicos que le rinden homenaje me parecieron muy flojas. Empezando por las hermanas Hurtado (el mote no se lo puse yo, se lo puso Juan Pablo, la verdad es que no sé sus verdaderos nombres ni me importa pero quien vea la peli las reconocerá en seguida) y siguiendo por el señor Bono y su tropa chupando cámara todo el rato y cerrando el documental tocando con el homenajeado (me pareció bochornoso tanto afán de protagonismo). ¡Qué pesaditos están el Bono y los U2! Te los encuentras hasta en la sopa.

Con Rufus Wainwright igual soy un pelín duro porque tiene varias intervenciones y al principio no me pareció mal pero cuando interpretó Hallelujah al piano me acordé de la versión de John Cale que aparece en el disco I am your fan (otro homenaje a Leonard Cohen) y, claro, lo siento mucho pero no hay punto de comparación. Pero es que he estado buscando en el YouTube y tampoco hay ni punto de comparación entre la versión con piano solo que yo conocía de John Cale y las que encuentro por ahí del mismo Cale, con cuerdas, que no me emocionan igual.

Aún y así, me parecieron estupendos Jarvis Cocker (el inquietante ex cantante de Pulp) y el gran Antony, que está que se sale. Aquí tenéis el vídeo de Antony con su intervención en I am your man y, de postre, el audio de la increíble versión de John Cale del disco I am your fan, para que cada uno juzgue por sí mismo.
